Building Department
The Planning and Zoning Committee is appointed by The Tioga City Council.
Follow the calendar schedule for Submissions. 2nd Monday of the month at 5:30pm at city hall, applications are due the Wednesday before at 5 pm. -Dates are subject to change.
Commercial Building Permit Application - Application for new construction, alteration, remodel, or roofing of a commercial structure.
Residential Building Permit Application - Application for new construction, alteration, or remodel of a single family, two-family, or townhouse dwelling. This application is to be used for accessory structures, siding replacement, and window replacement, and shingle replacement (re-roof).This application is also to be used for all residential decks, attached and unattached.
Demolition Permit - Application for demolition of existing structures or interior demolition of existing structures. Commercial buildings must have an asbestos form included with the application. Please contact the office if you have any questions required documentation prior to submitting your application.

What Are The Current Codes?
CURRENT CODES ADOPTED BY CITY OF TIOGA AND THE STATE OF NORTH DAKOTA:
- 2015 International Building Code (IBC)
- 2015 International Residential Code (IRC)
- 2015 International Property Maintaince Code (IPMC)
- 2015 International Fire Code (IFC)
Note: Plumbing and Electrical codes are inspected and enforced by the State of North Dakota Plumbing and Electrical boards.
Building Department Inspections
Inspections are a required part of the permitting process. It is the responsibility of the permit holder: whether applicant, owner, or licensed contractor to notify the City when any such inspections need to be performed. Inspection appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance. To schedule an inspection or for questions regarding the inspection process or whether a particular inspection is required, please directly contact City Building Inspector using the information provided at the bottom of this page.
The following is a basic required building inspections performed by the City Building Inspector
• Footings / Piers
• Foundation Walls / Re-Bar / Damp Proofing
• Framing
• Roof / Ice & Water Barrier
• Insulation / Frost-proofing
• Deck Construction
• Floodplain / Elevation documentation
• Fire-resistance
• Finish Grade / Drainage
Final Inspection shall be made after the permitted work is done and prior to occupancy.
The nature and scope of a given project will determine the inspections required for each project. The City will issue a Certificate of Occupancy once all inspections (City & State) plumbing and electric have been performed, found to be code compliant and all City fees paid.
